Society Collections). Enquiries to East Sussex Record Office, The Maltings, Castle
Precincts, Lewes BN7 1YT Email: archives@eastsussex.gov.uk.
Further enquiries about the records noted above should be addressed to staff at
the relevant repository. For the manors of Marshalls, Mayes and Leigh, the MDR
notes that some of the manorial records are held privately and I will contact you
in due course once the location and access conditions of these records has been
established.
I regret that the MDR has no note of any surviving records for the manors of
Bolnore, Haldleigh, Holmstead, Pains, Slough, Sugworth and Wigperry.
I hope that this information is helpful.
Best wishes

I have abstracts of all the copyhold transfers in the Gillingham court rolls 1561
onwards (bundles 43 to 50/2). The Blackers start 7 May 1583 with the death of
Bartholomew Gybbes, his son Bartholomew succeeding; the copyhold property
having been held by right of Bartholomew senior's wife Agnes, daughter and heir of
Margaret Blacker widow deceased. Then nothing until 30 September 1617 when
William Blacker esquire transfers land to Edmund Blacker esquire: after that lots
more.
